Thai Kar Tom Cafe Limited was established in 1998 by Murray Macarthy (Company Director), who owns and manages the company. Since 1997, Murray has opened a number of Thai restaurants throughout the lower South Island. With a taste for good thai food, Murray's vision is to introduce Thai Cuisine at a consistently high standard to all New Zealanders.
His passion is such, that the chefs are specially employed from Thailand, which enables him to create a quality authentic ethnic food and maintain high standards of experience and taste throughout his restaurants.

Part of the company's vision is to ensure that all staff are trained in our health and safety policies. We operate a proactive system where any initiative to improve health and safety practices, for both customers and staff members, is implemented over and above the council standard.
Each location has their own in-house Food and Safety training programme, with comprehensive training manuals covering temperature checking, stock rotation schedules, food labeling and personal hygiene checklists.
Thai Kar Tom Café Limited are delighted that all four Dunedin restaurants received an 'A" grading in the new Dunedin Environmental Health Food Safety bylaw, which saw only 13% of food operations in Otago receive an 'A' grading. To achieve this grading, restaurants must receive higher than 17/20, demonstrating the restaurant has excellent food safety practices in place. The grading covers kitchen structure and maintenance, food safety practices and programmes, staff training and food safety conduct. The same health practices are in place in all the thai restaurants across the South Island.
